Fun on the Farm
Schedule your “Fun on the Farm” field trip at the VB Farmers Market for your children, ages pre-K through fifth grade. Groups of 10 to groups of 90!
This is a fun, interactive, hands-on, learning experience that introduces the many facets of agriculture. Activities include:
- Milk “Beachy”, the life-size fiberglass cow.
- Churn cream into butter.
- Pump water into a basin and hand-wash clothes on a washboard.
- Grind corn.
- Walk through the garden and explore insects, different types of plants, vermiculture, composting, recycling and more.
- Plant a plant to take home.
- Art and crafts
- Story time with ice cream.
Only $8 per child. Teachers and chaperones are free.

Agriculture in the Classroom
Provides hands-on, minds-on activities using Virginia agriculture and natural resources to teach K-5 standards. Middle-school and high-school lessons are available as well. Continuing Education credits may be received for attending; please check with your school system.
The Farmers Market hosts a Summer Professional Development Series Class for local teachers. Registration information will be shared in the spring of 2026.

Taste of the Market
Whether you're looking for fresh-from-the-farm produce, locally made specialty foods and baked goods, seafood or a great butcher, Virginia Beach Farmers Market is a family-friendly destination. TASTE OF THE MARKET is a down-to-earth tour that features a sampling from Season's Best Bakery, The Country Butcher, Gilly's Creamery and our produce vendors. Escape from the Boardwalk, and take a taste of Virginia's Finest; finish your visit off with some leisurely shopping.
